The Rich History of My Custom-Made Ceramics
Years ago, I graduated from the University of Washington with a major in ceramic engineering and a minor in fine arts.
When I came back home from my military service, I bought a small ceramic shop and taught classes. I became a national ceramic teacher for the National Ceramics Association and had a great time.
When my supplier came and asked me to buy his company, I jumped on the opportunity, and it soon became known as POKO Inc. I built that company up and became an international manufacturer and distributor of products for all aspects of the ceramic and pottery industry.
Northwest Tile Design was another fun company I developed, in that we manufactured specialty tile for homes and offices. If they wanted embellishment on them, we did that too.
Having sold the companies, I went to work for The Boeing Company as senior architect of computing for a number of years and when I retired in 2010, I once again began my first love—ceramics and fine art.
I Was Blessed With the Gift of Vision
I specialize in doing special orders for customers. You will see, as you move through this site, a number of pieces that are designed and made as family heirlooms and also pieces that are hard to find that are utilitarian. Many of these customers are looking for special colors, and so I make the glazes to go with the pieces.
I throw the bowls and platters just to have a canvas to paint on, but my customers love them.
We live in Washington state and I do farmers’ markets throughout the state. We love meeting new people and discussing projects with them.
Customer service is our number one priority. I stand behind every piece I make. My customers can count on me to make them a product that will last them a lifetime.
Cheers,
Terry
